Milwaukee M18 Fuel Mid-Size Router

Milwaukee M18 Fuel Mid-Size Router

We figure there would be a next level M18 Fuel router coming at some point. Even though the rumor mill has been quiet, the Milwaukee 2838-20 is due out in September 2023. This model fits in the 2.25 horsepower class with a top speed of 25,000 RPM. When you’re working 5/8-inch roundovers in softwood, the runtime is 225 linear feet on a 6.0Ah High Output battery.

All the features you expect on a Pro-grade router are present. A couple of accessories to keep your eyes on are a plunge base and an adapter that fits the router to Milwaukee’s track saw guide rails.

The bare tool is $349 and the kit is $599. The kit includes the router, fixed base, plunge base, M18 6.0Ah High Output battery, M18 and M12 rapid charger, contractor bag, 1/4-inch collet, 1/4-inch collet, template base, dust shroud, spindle wrench, and edge guide.

Milwaukee M18 Fuel 16-Gauge Straight Finish Nailer

Milwaukee M18 Fuel 16-Gauge Straight Finish Nailer

We’ve been enjoying Milwaukee’s next-generation 15- and 16-gauge angled finish nailers for a while now, but a lot of folks have been wondering when the 16-gauge straight finish nailer is coming. The wait is over as of August 2023 and brings all the same great improvements we saw from the other finish nailers. Expect zero ramp up time, a more compact design with easier sightlines, and clean, consistent holes no matter what species or material you’re working with.

Look for the bare tool (3020-20) to run $329.

Milwaukee Tap and Die Sets

Milwaukee Tap and Die Threading Sets

Milwaukee’s design team honed in on three areas of frustration with standard threading sets. First, they noted that the sizes are hard to read. Each black tap and die has a light-colored marking that makes it easy to read compared to typical etching.

Second, many sets require different handle sizes. Milwaukee created a single Hex-LOK handle to tackle both taps and dies across the entire size range. The chrome handle is just under 9 inches long with curved edges that are comfortable in your hand. A 1-inch hex interface holds the threading dies or the tap collet and requires no tools to install either.

Finally, there’s the breakage issue. Milwaukee doesn’t go into detail about the metallurgy in the accessories. However, we do know they specifically addressed the durability of the bits and finished them off with a black oxide coating.

Comprehensive 38-piece sets run $199.99 each.

Milwaukee M18 Compact Brushless Drill, Hammer Drill, and Impact Drivers

Milwaukee M18 Compact Brushless Drill, Hammer Drill, and Impact Drivers

Milwaukee Compact Brushless tools have been out for a while, but the new drill, hammer drill, and impact drivers take the concept of “compact” very seriously. The drill drops 3/4 of an inch to measure just 5.7 inches long (5.8 inches for the hammer drill). The impact drivers are just 4.4 inches long and also much narrower with a 2.1-inch width.
